“What do you mean there was a problem with the operation? It was supposed to be a simple procedure.”
“Well, just that it didn’t go as planned. There was a complication.”
“What complication? It’s only a circumcision.”
“I had a little difficulty with the instrument.”
“What?! What happened?”
“You see, the device we use is supposed to just take off a small piece of the surplus skin.”
“What did you do?”
“But it malfunctioned and took off a bit more.”
“Malfunctioned?! Don’t you know what you’re doing?”
“This was my first one.”
“How bad is it? How much did it take off? What can be done about it?”
“Well, we tried to reattach; but it didn’t hold.”
“But, but, my baby!”
“So now we feel it best to start him, uh, her on estrogen treatments to complete the transition.”
“You quack!”
“Listen. I tell you what: I won’t charge you full price for the procedure.”
