“We interrupt your program for a breaking news bulletin,” said the local news announcer. “A short time ago we received reports of a shooting downtown! We came down hoping to get you more details of this tragedy. Unfortunately, we’ve been stopped several blocks from the scene and can’t approach any closer. I have, however, located an innocent bystander who has just escaped that area safely. Tell me, sir, what did you see back there?”
“I saw them shooting,” said the man excitedly. “I was in my office all morning without hearing anything unusual. But when I came out for lunch police were everywhere. The streets were barricaded and people were rushing around. Then I heard someone say they were filming a shoot and they thought it was the hostage rescue scene. It’s a major production.”
“Thank you, sir,” said the reporter turning back to the camera. “As you’ve just heard from our eyewitness, it is now a hostage situation. I repeat, this terrible event has just been confirmed. The shooting has now become a stand-off and police are planning a daring raid despite the risks to the captives and themselves. Stay tuned for further developments.”
