Ah, Book, my dear friend; wondrous things we have done!
We’ve curled up together for hours.
I’ve drifted away on invisible wing;
Held up by your unfailing powers.
A journey by sea to some faraway shore,
To find what adventure was there.
A hunt through the wild, uninhabited wood;
Until we got chased by a bear!
A castle, a princess, a dragon, a knight.
A schooner, a pirate, a daring sword fight!
We’ve done many things and have gone many places.
We’ve conquered some fears and have won some embraces.
Ah, Book, my dear friend; now at last we must part.
From here, all alone I shall lay.
For I have grown old and my story is told.
The Author has called me away.
