2/15/15

“Did you hear something?”

“No. It’s nothing. Now quit it.”

“Maybe they’re coming now!”

No, they’re not. Nobody attacks in the dark. They wouldn’t be able to see. They’d risk killing each other. Nothing will happen until it’s light.”

“Daybreak is only an hour or two away.”

“Quit it, I said. You’re just making yourself nervous.”

“I heard about what they do to people. It’s really –”

“STOP! I don’t want to hear it.”

“Ok. Sorry. Do you think we’ll live through this?”

“Yes. I don’t know. I hope so. Just remember your training. Keep your eyes open and your head down.”

“I hope I make it home again. I’d really like to see my mother, and my father. I wish I was there now.”

“Hey! If you don’t shut up you’re not even going to make it until morning. Now quit it!”

“Yeah, Ok. Sorry.”

“How did I get stuck beside you anyway?”

“I don’t know. Listen! Did you hear that?”

“That’s it. You can stay here alone. I’m moving down the line.”
